Isolation of Microorganisms from Blood of Febrile Patients by Bile Culture

Abstract
A total of 343 blood from febrile patients were cultured :in bile in order to isolate Salnaozcella ~eeies, and 23 strains of various microorganisms other than ,Salmonella were isolated. The isolates insisted of 10 strains of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, 5 Pseacdomonas aeruginosa, 3 Serratia naarcests, and one each of Alealigenes fecalis, Escherichia coli, .Aerobaeter aerogenes, Staphylococcus ~reus and Candida parapsilosis, The pathlogic roles of these strains were discussed.
Enteric forms including S. marcescens were sensitive to nalidixic acid and gentamicin but some cinetobacters were sensitive to tetracycline, nalidixic acid, :kanamycin and gentamicin, All straiof Paeudomonas were sensitive only to gentamicin and confined to same pyocine type of no. ll. Strains of Serratia and Acinetobacter exhibited vigorous growth in bile, however, sodium desoxy-.olate mixed with human sera showed an enhanced growth inhibition, also antibacterial agents mbined with sera exhibited elevated antibacterial actions.
